Baroness Scott of Needham Market has been in South Suffolk to support Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Candidate Kathy Pollard. "I have known and worked with Kathy for nearly 15 years. She has a rare combination of superb campaigning skills coupled with honesty and integrity. People in South Suffolk should realise what a difference it would make to have Kathy as their MP here. Her dedication to this area is unparalleled and she will really look after local people. Just a few miles away in Colchester people really value their MP Bob Russell, who has worked tirelessly on their behalf for the last 8 years. On May 5th voters in South Suffolk have the chance to elect the first ever woman MP in Suffolk."

Lord Phillips of Sudbury added "I have been amazed at the strength of feeling on the Iraq war and the number of lifelong Labour supporters who are switching to the Liberal Democrats at this election. Many Conservative voters are also switching to us because they don't like Michael Howard's negative campaigning. Kathy Pollard is an excellent candidate with a record of achievement who would be an outstanding MP for this area."

Kathy Pollard said "We have received endorsement for our policies right across the board from pensioners to students. Local income tax, free personal care and scrapping tuition fees are particularly popular. Our councillors across South Suffolk have a great reputation for hard work and have been real ambassadors for the Liberal Democrats."
