  • Labour came FOURTH in the 2003 elections with just 10% of the vote. The Lib Dems came FIRST

  • In the 2003 District Council Elections, the South Suffolk Lib Dems won more votes than any other party.

  • In the 2005 General Election, the South Suffolk Lib Dems increased their share of the votes further, moving up into second place.

  • In the 2007 Babergh District Council elections, the Liberal Democrats won 42% of the vote and 16 seats while the Conservatives won 37% and 19 seats. The Independents hold 7 seats and 1 is No Description. Labour came 4th behind the Independents and hold no seats on the Council.

The Liberal Democrats have 19 County and District Councillors.
