Lib Dems best placed to beat Reform
British politics is currently in a state of turbulence and change
Labour and the Conservatives the two traditional governing parties have damaged their reputations for competence and honesty and have seen their support collapse.
Last years saw the consequences of this situation when in the local elections both parties lost a lot of council seats
The main beneficiary was the Reform party who gained 667 seats with the Liberal Democrats adding 163 and the Greens 44.
Reform has seen a degree of instability in its newly elected councillors with over 10% of them resigning or defecting to other parties. Their promise to slash waste has also proved illusionary with Councils they control increasing Council Tax despite promises to the contrary
As the chart above shows the trends of last year have continued through the year in council by-elections. Figures collated by the website Election Maps UK show the Liberal Democrats continuing to perform strongly behind Reform both in terms of seats won and seats gained.
Real votes in real elections show that if you don't want to see Reform win locally then a vote for the Liberal Democrats is your best option
