Protect Our Villages From the Brockley Wood Quarry: Add Your Name

Despite 263 formal objections from residents, parish councils, and community groups, and even a successful legal challenge that once overturned approval, Conservative county council leaders have pushed ahead with plans for the Brockley Wood Quarry.

This means around 150 heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) will travel through our area every day, bringing noise, dust, pollution, and safety risks for pedestrians, cyclists, and all road users. Local voices were clear, but we were ignored.

In just minutes, Tory councillors dismissed the concerns of an entire community. If 263 objections were not enough to make them listen, we need to show even greater strength to ensure they protect us now that the quarry is coming.

Enough is enough. Our villages deserve better.

Councillors are elected to represent us, not dismiss us. Yet Conservatives backed the quarry despite overwhelming opposition. We must now demand that they monitor and limit the quarry’s noise, dust, traffic, and safety risks and take real action to keep our community safe.

I am Mark Hurley and I am standing up for our villages. With experience as a parish councillor, I know how to fight for local people and hold county bosses to account. That is why I am launching this petition: to show the strength of our community and push for proper protections and oversight.

This petition calls on the county council and all relevant authorities to work with our parish councils to ensure that the quarry’s noise, dust, traffic, and safety risks are fully monitored and properly mitigated, so that our villages are protected from harm.
